Thanksgiving and Grammy's Birthday

We spent Thanksgiving this year at my sister in laws house.  Andy's parents were up from Ozark and his Grandma came over too.  We had a great time spending the day with everyone.  Abigail was great and was loved on by everyone!  Drew did most of the cooking and dinner was so good.  We had turkey, stuffing, homemade cranberry relish, lima beans, butternut squash risotto (YUM!!) and brussel sprouts.  And even though we were stuffed from all that we also had apple and pecan pie for desert.  I made the pecan pie which turned out good.....not much to my credit though because pecan pie is really easy to make.

Yesterday was my mom's birthday.  She had to work but I don't think she minded too much.  : )  I picked her and Abigail up and took them to lunch at Jason's Deli.  Abigail was so adorable....she wants to eat what I'm eating so bad!  She will sit in my lap and hold her mouth open hoping that something will get put in there. While she wasn't trying to get my food she was smiling and squealing at everyone.  Last night we had a little party for mom.  Both sets of my grandparents came as well as my sister and Monica.  We had fun and again Abigail was the hit of the party.

Giggles!

I was so looking forward to when Abigail started to laugh.  She finally giggled a few times a couple of weeks ago but it was very short.  The past few couple of nights she has laughed a lot!  She has the funniest laugh!  We love hearing it so much.  Here are some videos....

Weekend Fun

Here are some pictures from our weekend.  Andy worked all day Saturday but I was able to take Abigail up to Decatur for Caroline's (my niece) birthday.  Andy's parents were there who had not seen us since the week Abigail was born so it was fun to see everyone and catch up.  Abigail did great!!  I was nervous about the car ride there and back but she was perfect.
Eating dinner with Daddy.  I love the face she is making!
Abigail's first time eating peaches.  She loved them.
Caroline's Birthday Cake.  My sis-in-law is very talented!
"Minnie" playing with Abigail.  She is so sweet with her!!
Abigail loves playing with her feet!
Reagan and Monica came by to visit us today.  I was home for lunch so I got to visit with them too.
Reagan sent me this after I left.  Abigail, just today, started sticking her tongue out.....and boy has she stuck it out.  It is so funny watching her.

First Foods

For over a month now Abigail has been getting a little rice cereal in her bottle every night.  A couple of weeks ago we decided to try to spoon feed her some.  The first time we gave her some I mixed it with water.  She hated it! She would not even give it try after the first bite.  The next day I tried again and mixed it with breast milk.  She was still not interested.  I thought that maybe she just was not ready for the spoon.  So I waited a few week before trying anything else.
The next thing we tried was a little mashed banana.  Its easy (just peel and mash) and much better for her than rice cereal.  She didn't seem crazy about it the first time but she ate a little.  The next night I tried again and she loved it!!  She ate it up!  She was so cute.  Since that time we have offered it once a day or every other day.  I make sure I breast feed her before offering her anything else so that she gets all the breast milk she needs and so my supply will not be affected.  Some nights she will eat it like its the best thing she has ever had and some nights she doesn't seem too interested.  I am going to stick with banana a little longer and then offer her something new.....maybe avocado or prunes.....yummm.

5 months old

My sweet girl is 5 months old today.  Honestly, not a lot has changed since my 4 month post other than her weight.  She gained a full pound between her 4 month Dr visit and her 2 week follow-up.  She now weighs 12lbs 12 oz (on 10/31).  The one other new thing at 5 months is that we have started offering her new foods.  (I have a separate post about that to come)  We are still trying to figure out if she has reflux.  We tried zantac for two weeks without much change.  We think the amount of spit up decreased but her fussiness did not.  We went back to the pediatrician to make sure she was gaining weight and did not have an underlying ear infection.  Her ears were good but her nose had some inflammation...possibly from a cold or from reflux. And, as I said, she definitely gained weight.  He changed her medicine to Omeprazole (Prilosec).  So far we have not noticed a difference but it takes a little while to start working.  Every day I go through the list of things that may make her fussy and wonder if this is just her normal.  Maybe she is just a little touchy, easily overstimulated and sensitive to lack of sleep.  If this is the case we will adjust......I think we just need to explore everything to make sure she is not hurting in any way.
Here are her photos from tonight....she started out real happy but got upset pretty quick.  Its amazing how she can go from smiling one second to crying the next.  She is so precious I had to post her crying picture too.

Halloween

I love Halloween and dressing up!  Last year Andy and I did not dress up because our annual party we were hoping to go to was cancelled.  So, this year I was determined to dress up and have somewhere to go and celebrate.  Andy felt like we could just go trick or treating...alone....with Abigail.  I did not like that idea so we went to a friends house to eat dinner and trick or treat with them and their kids.
I have been working on mine and Abigail's costumes for about a month now.  I decided to be Little Bo Peep and Abigail a lamb.  It is so hard to find adult costumes that are not the"sexy"version.  All the Little Bo Peep costumes were soooo short and I knew I would not be comfortable in that especially carrying around my little lamb.  So, I actually bought a Alice in Wonderland dress and a staff from costumes.com and a bonnet and pantaloons from a lady on Etsy.   Abigail's costume was a little easier.  I knew if I bought something pre-made it would be too big on her so I made her body suit out of footed pajamas and cotton balls.  I ordered her hat from Etsy as well.  It took Andy forever to decide on a costume but he finally decide to be a Wolf to go along with the Little Bo Peep theme.
Making Abigail's costume was easy....all I needed was fabric glue
Cotton balls
and footed pajamas.
I used black spray paint to make her hooves.

Andy's costume was scary but Abigail did not mind at all.
The costume I made was very bulky around her face so we did not leave it on very long.  She still wore her hat though.  It was handmade by a women on Etsy and was soooo soft.  She will be wearing it again this winter.
