4 Month Dr. Visit

Friday we took Abigail to see Dr. Dudgeon for her 4 month well visit. It went great.  She now weighs 11 lbs 12 oz and is 23 inches long.  He said she is doing great and growing well.

The main thing we wanted to talk to him about was the possibility of her having reflux. She has continued to be very fussy, not sleeping great and then recently she started doing a couple of other things that just did not seem right. First she began to push away and fuss while breastfeeding. She will arch her back and push away over and over while eating. It's not every time she breastfeeds but enough to make me think something is wrong. Second thing is that she started spitting up a lot more. This is not consistent either but some days she will spit up almost everything we feed her.  On the days that she is spitting up so much she is also very fussy and does not like laying down. With these symptoms he agreed that it was most likely reflux and prescribed Zantac for her to take twice a day.   We started the Zantac that night and we are already seeing a difference in her. Last night she went to bed at 8 and slept till 5:20!!!  She hasn't slept that long ever. It was amazing to get that much sleep. I kept waking up and looking at the monitor to make sure she was still ok. We are hoping that she is feeling better and it wasn't just a fluke. We will see tonight. The only bad thing is that liquid Zantac tastes horrible!  Apparently it is really hard to disguise the bitterness. Today we put it in a bottle with 1/2 oz breast milk and she took it much better.  I feel bad that she has been so uncomfortable but I'm glad we can now help her feel better.

We had a great, busy weekend. We went out with some friends to Ocean Friday night for Andy's birthday. It was so good.  My dad (Paw Paw) kept Abigail for us. Abigail was extra fussy that night because she had her shots that day but they did great. He feed her, gave her a bath and got her to bed all by himself. I was really impressed!  Then Saturday we went to Bar Bells for Boobs in the morning, had Abigail's 4 month pictures taken and then went to a friends house to watch the Bama game.  It was a busy day but Abigail did great.

4 Month Photos

Abigail is 4 Months Old.....actually I am a little late getting these posted, she was 4 months last Friday.
At 4 months Abigail is:
rolling over from her back to her belly
making a lot of noises (including a really high pitched squeal)
Smiling a lot
She has much better hand coordination....she can reach for things and grab them.  She then puts them directly in her mouth.
She will grab her feet if I put the up for her to see but does not get them on her own yet.
Her favorite thing to do is "fly" with her daddy.....Andy holds her over his head and sings to her.
We finally have her on a schedule of waking and bedtime as well as feedings during the day.  We get up every morning at 7am and then we start her bedtime routine at 6:45 or 7pm depending on if its bath night or not.  On Bath nights our routines go like this....bath with daddy at about 6:45.  They play for a good 20 minutes.  Then we get lotion and jammies on and brush her hair.  Andy then gives her a bottle while I pump. (we use a bottle so we can mix in a little rice cereal)  I then wrap her in her miracle blanket and take her upstairs to read her a book and rock her to sleep.  She has been so tired the last few days that she is almost asleep before I finish the book.  On good nights she sleeps till somewhere between 2:30 and 4:00am.  I breast feed her and change her diaper and get her back to sleep.  On good nights she will then sleep till 7am when I wake her up and feed her before I go off to work.  I say on good nights because those are few and far between but hopfully we are moving to more good nights than bad.  I love mornings with Abigail!!  She is soooo sweet and cuddly in the mornings......it makes it hard to go to work!
We go to the pediatrician this Friday for her 4 month visit...I cant wait to see how much she weighs!!
Here are her 4 month photos....

Rub a Dub

Abigail has grown out of her bath tub so this weekend we started doing baths in the big bath tub.  She loves it!!  More room to kick her legs and throw her arms around.  This video is from tonight.....
