Abigail's Birthday

On Monday June 4th Andy and I headed to the hospital for induction of labor. We got there at 7am and got the pitocin started.  The day was very loooong!!  I progressed very slowly so it was about 2 am before I was complete and ready to push.  A couple of hours later at 4:44 am Abigail Michelle Shaw was born.  She weighed 6lbs 8oz's and was 20.5 inches long.
Here is one of her first pictures......

Our hospital stay was good.....Brookwood is very nice and the staff were awesome.  The toilets were as great as they advertised!!  We came home Thursday.  This was the first day that I felt completely overwhelmed but it didn't last long....we were too busy to stay overwhelmed.
Here's Abigail in her going home dress....

On Saturday we had our first pediatric appointment.  All labs were good and Abigail gained 0.5 oz.  It was hard to hear her cry so much but we made it through it.  Actually I had a bad night and was very overwhelmed by having to be somewhere so early with a fed baby that I cried the whole appointment too.  Andy handled the situation quite well.  We laugh about it now but it wasn't fun for any of us at the time.

I can't believe that in the morning Abigail will already be one week old.  It goes by soooo fast.  The week has been good.  Considering we have a new baby I think we have gotten a decent amount of sleep.  The hardest part has been breastfeeding.  I am soooo blessed to have a couple of friends with newborns just a few weeks older than Abigail that have just been through the things I'm experienceing.  They have been so encouraging and given me great advice.  They have helped us so much.  Even at a week out we are still learning and struggling with feedings but things are headed in the right direction.

Updating the blog has gotten difficult but I will try to keep it up.

Here are a few more pictures of our beautiful baby girl.......

40 Weeks!!!

Wow, we made it to my due date. I can't believe it's here already. All week we tried walking, eating spicy foods, using the exercise ball but still no contractions. So that means tomorrow is the big day. I have been a little crazy this weekend trying to make sure everything is ready....Andy has told me a few times that I need to chill out. I'm still not sure how he stays so chilled. I guess I have enough nervous energy for the both of us. We will try to update everyone on her arrival as soon as we can. We appreciate everyone who is thinking and praying for us!!
Here are my last belly pictures......
